PUPILS at two primary schools have come up trumps in this year’s United Keith Christmas card competition.

Children at Botriphnie Primary School and Keith Primary School have been named as winners after the popular contest.

Winners were picked in three different age categories after a massive 213 entries were received by judges.

Erin Irvine (5), from Botriphnie Primary School, came out on top in the 3-5 year old category, Keith Primary School’s Max Crawford (8) won the 6-8 year old section and Georgina Lelej (11), also from Keith Primary School, was the winner in the 9-12 year old competition.

Alongside the winning trio, 18 youngsters were commended for coming second place, third place or for being ‘runners-up’.

United Keith chairwoman Linda Gorn said: “The independent judges had a real challenge selecting the winners and runners-up.

“In our eyes, everyone was a winner for taking part. Each child got a wee bag of sweets for entering and the winners got a cash prize.

"Each winner and runner up also got so many copies of their card entry. We are printing them in-house to keep the cost down.

“We owe a huge thanks to the children for entering, the judges for judging and Brian Gorn for reducing the A4 entries to A6 and spending many hours printing the cards off.”

Six packs of Christmas cards, which will be a mix of winners and runners up, are available to purchase from The Deli on Mid Street, Keith, and Boogie Woogie in Regent Square, Fife Keith.

Those who want to order packs of cards made by a specific child can do so. It will be £5 for a six-pack of individual winners or runners up. To place this order, contact United Keith’s Facebook page, Keith Kilt and Textile Centre’s Facebook page or phone 01542 886846, leaving a message of your details.

There may be a waiting time on orders depending on demand.
