With just four weeks till the return of Turriff Show the countdown to the two day event kicked of on Friday evening with the stock judging competiton.

The new stock judging event which featured an open competition for the first time was held at Kinnermit Farm, Turriff with the kind assistance of the Mair family.

Show secretary Helen Paterson said; "It was a very successful start to events and a big thank you goes to everyone who came along to support the event which raised £400 for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance - SCAA.

"Thanks also go to the Mair family for providing the venue and stock, judge for the evening, Andrew Anderson and Turriff and District JAC for manning the bar.

" We also thanks all our sponsors and donators including SAC Consulting, Netherton Tractors, Stabiliser Cattle Company and P J Gaul.

"A special thank you goes to the Rennie family for donating the new John Rennie Rosebowl for the winner of the open section in memory of the late John Rennie."

Results-

Young Farmers overall team - 1 Inverurie Young Farmers Club; 2 Udny JAC 'A' and 3 New Deer Young Farmers 'A'.

Young farmers ladies team - 1 Turriff and District JAC; 2 Udny JAC and 3 Strichen JAC.

YF overall individual - 1 Martyn Thomson - Inverurie 'A'; 2 Shona Marshall - Inverurie 'A' and 3 (equal) - Ian Birnie - New Deer 'B' and Harry Ross, Lower Speyside

Open competition - 1 Stephen Woods; 2 Keith Rendall and 3 Chloe Johnston.
