Taken from the archives of the Buckie and District Fishing Heritage Centre Ltd, the pictures show the town and its surrounding areas - in some cases more than 100 years ago.

This week’s photos take a look at a postcard depicting drifters sitting at their moorings at Buckie, while the other shows a view of the port looking towards Low Street.

Drifters were fishing boast designed to catch herring in long drift nets. They were a common sight at Buckie and many other harbours.

As the mid-1960s dawned catches for thee drifters began to tail off with some of the boats being repurposed to serve the then nascent North Sea oil industry.
