Keith’s Ceamara Photography simply the best after double Scottish Wedding Awards triumph
A Moray photographer has been celebrating a double triumph at a prestigious national wedding awards ceremony.
Morag Martin, who owns Keith-based Ceamara Photography, left the Scottish Wedding Awards (SWA) ceremony in Glasgow recently clutching not one but two trophies.
In addition to tasting victory in the wedding Photographer North title she went on to claim the national crown, too. It is not the first time Morag has enjoyed success at the SWA, having won the north award in 2023 and the national one three years prior. She has been nominated for the finals every year since 2019 apart from a one-year break due to Covid.
Morag confessed that her double win came as something of a shock.
She said: “It’s been amazing, shocking really, though in a good way.
“I go to these ceremonies for the networking and a good night out, I never go there expecting to win, not ever.
“The standard across the industry is so high just getting to the finals is a great achievement.
“When my name was read out I was actually taking a video thinking someone else was going to win it. After I came back from collecting my award I was literally shaking all over.
“I’m still on cloud nine, to be honest.”
Finalists to the SWA are nominated by the couples who have used their services. Those who make the shortlist then have to submit evidence outlining what they do. Unfortunately winners do not receive any feedback as to what tipped the judges in their favour, although an elated Morag said she was more than happy to “just take the win”.
In addition to giving a personal boost, winning an SWA trophy has a business impact, too.
Morag continued: “Winning an award gives people a sense of the quality behind my work, it validates the quality of what I produce.
“It tells people this is a serious business, it’s a passion not a hobby.
“However, the main thing for me is that the brides are happy, awards are the icing on the cake.”
Morag opened Ceamara Photography - Ceamara being Gaelic for camera - back in 2012 and is hoping to turn the business from a part-time to a full-time concern in the next year or so.
Photography itself has been a passion for the Keith born and bred award winner since she was at secondary school, where she was an active member of the photography club there. After leaving school she followed this up by doing an HND in photography before starting up in business.
Morag added: “Photography is the most rewarding thing ever, it’s not a job, it’s a passion.
“I get the chance to capture people’s happy day.
“Capturing happy makes me happy, too!”
