Portsoy pharmacist makes finals of Scottish Pharmacist Awards





A pharmacist has been nominated for a prestigious national award.

Debbie Smith, who works at Davidsons Chemists in Portsoy, has made the final of the Pharmacist of the Year category in the Scottish Pharmacist Awards.

Her nomination outlined: “Debbie Smith has been recognised for her exceptional leadership and dedication to patient care at Davidsons Chemist in Portsoy.

“Amidst a turbulent period of change at the local GP practice, she stepped up to support both her community and healthcare colleagues, by implementing new triage systems, upskilling her pharmacy team and ensuring vulnerable patients received the care they needed.

“She established peer support networks for independent prescribers, developed GP staff training and played a key role in streamlining services.

“Her work has strengthened multidisciplinary collaboration and positioned community pharmacy as an essential pillar of local healthcare.

“Brilliant work Debbie, good luck and we look forward to seeing you on the night.”

The Scottish Pharmacist Awards will be held in Edinburgh’s EICC on Saturday, April 26.

The event brings together everyone across pharmacy to celebrate the hard work and commitment of pharmacy teams in Scotland.

Achievements are celebrated including new ways of working via efficiencies or automation to recognising someone who has committed their career to the profession.
