Rural families have been saddened to learn of the permanent closure of a village playgroup.

Following an Extraordinary General Meeting - which took place online - Monquhitter's Wee Lambs have announced that they will not be reopening after the coronavirus pandemic.

The playgroup closed last March, and said goodbye to their key playleader last summer.

As restrictions have continued the group have been unable to secure an appropriately qualified replacement which has led to the group being forced to fold.

The community were quick to share their sadness at the closure of the group - which provided activities for youngsters aged two to five years old in the Cuminestown area - with many describing it as "a shame".

The playgroup relocated from Monquhitter Primary School to the village hall in 2019 after a change in the local nursery's opening hours, and had a lot of support from local businesses and families to make sure the facilities offered the best possible opportunities for the children.
