Officers from the Garioch Local Policing Team are working with retailers in the build up to Christmas to reduce instances of theft by shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, replicating the work they did the previous year.

Local Community Officer, PC James Stewart has again been visiting retailers and providing them with crime prevention advice to ensure they are prepared for the festive season ahead.

PC Stewart said: "Last year we ran an operation designed to assist retailers with security advice and to prepare their stores in advance of the Christmas shopping season.

"This was followed up by dedicated patrols and saw a marked reduction in both theft by shoplifting and anti-social behaviour over the Christmas period.

"I hope that the operation this year will have similar results and I would advise anyone thinking of committing such crime that retailers will be prepared and vigilant, with extra Police on patrol."
