An Oldmeldrum hair and beauty business will relaunch during an open day next weekend.

It will focus on wellness and will feature a fully equipped gym run by personal trainer Ivana Taylor-Ross.

Owner Mel Bain said: "After the lockdowns we were looking to diversify the business.

"We have relaunched and our back room now features Body and Breathe, which is run by personal trainer Ivana Taylor-Ross.

"She has set up a fully equipped gym with the focus on the health and wellness of our customers.

"Our spa facilities have now been moved to our private garden area."

People will be able to see what is on offer at Platform 1 and Body and Breathe, which is based at Station Road, during the open day from 12pm-4pm.

The event will feature live music from Scott McKenzie and John Duncan, food stall, bar and prosecco bus.

There will also be fundraising activities including a silent auction and raffle with the money raised being donated to support services providing cancer treatment for Mel's husband Elliot.

Platform 1 was opened in 2011 and provides a variety of hair and beauty treatments. Its facilities include a hair salon, beauty rooms, spa, hot tub and sauna.

The addition of Body and Breathe will see it be able to offer gym equipment, personal training and treatments including kinetic chain release, which is a full body alignment helping people with arthritis, muscle pain and other injuries, and massage.

Ivana said: "We've come into Platfrom 1 to provide a fitness studio which will be private for personal training and also small gym classes.

"What my aim is to do is create a safe space which will increase people's confidence.

"They can be with a professional personal trainer and enjoy their time in the gym rather than feeling anxious in the environment. Especially after Covid that is really important for people.

"The space has allowed me to support a fellow local business. We will also be looking to do wellness days, which will allow us to get other local companies involved to help each other out through these difficult times."

Mel added: "We have done a lot of work over the past months to get everything ready.

"Our aim with the relaunch is to provide treatments and facilities that can benefit the wellbeing and mental health of people."

Tickets for the open day can be bought beforehand or on the day at Platfrom 1, by calling 01651 872321 or on their Facebook pages.
