Huntly has been gifted two of the Oor Wullie statues which formed part of a fundraising trail last year.

An anonymous benefactor has bought Wullie and his Dino Onesie and Wullie Goes Pop to ensure that Huntly is on the map of where the resin statues designed by artists from all across Scotland are located.

The statues formed the Orr Wullie Big Bucket Trail last summer and in the autumn were auctioned to raise money for the children’s hospitals in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The two colourful characters have been given temporary accommodation right bang in the centre of the town thanks to Huntly and District Development Trust, (HDDT)

Town centre development manager Carolyn Powell said: " A generous local benefactor wanted Huntly to have one of the statues which have been putting other towns on the map.

"HDDT is happy to be able to accommodate them until such time as a decision is taken on a permanent outdoor location for them and while there is no work going on in No 30."
