Motive Offshore Group backs North Sea growth with six-figure investment in Peterhead facility
An offshore company has announced more than half a million pounds of investment in one of its north-east facilities
It marks a significant step in enhancing Motive Offshore Group’s operations in the North Sea, following its purchase of the Peterhead site in 2024.
The purpose-built operations site, due to be fully refurbished by the end of 2025, will serve as a key hub for Motive’s expanding fleet of offshore equipment and testing services, offering clients an end-to-end provision under one roof across loadouts, testing and operations.
The facility, purchased as part of Motive’s acquisition of Aquatic, will bolster the company's ability to support ongoing subsea projects in the North Sea by bringing greater efficiencies to clients through faster turnaround and ensuring it continues to deliver integrated solutions across the global offshore energy sector, from oil and gas to renewables.
Motive Offshore Group CEO Dave Acton said: “The investment in Peterhead allows us to expand our local capabilities and better support the growing demands of clients.
“As Scotland's energy sector navigates this transitional phase, shaped by the shift to renewables, rising demand for reliable power, and the need for ever greater innovation, this commitment comes at an important moment.
“It allows us to deliver even more efficient and reliable solutions for our customers across the North Sea.”
While expanding its local headcount by 30 per cent, the firm, which is based at Boyndie near Banff, said the new facility also underscores its commitment to environmental, social and governance principles, integrating staff training, waste reduction and enhanced operational efficiencies to minimise its environmental footprint.
Motive Offshore Group European rentals director Steven Kilpatrick said: “We’re incredibly motivated by the opportunities in Peterhead and proud to be embedding ourselves further into the local community.
“This new facility not only means we can grow our local workforce but also that we can continue our long-standing commitment to the careers and progression of our people.”
The company added Peterhead is expected to play a central role in supporting its growing portfolio of projects, reinforcing its position as a key partner for offshore energy operations in the region and globally.
