Networking group announces new activities

Women Connect, a networking group which connects women in business in the north-east of Scotland has announced a new programme of activities for 20/21.
The events, which will currently be held online, comprise a mix of monthly networking events and a series of workshops which will cover topics such as improving your Linked-In profile, interview techniques, communication in a crisis and psychometric colour profiling.
A membership-led organisation run by volunteers, Women Connect provides a forum which supports and brings together women in business across the region to network and to share and discuss business ideas.
It is open to all categories of business women from business owners and professionals to employees and the self-employed.
The events were announced at the group’s AGM which also saw the election of a new committee to take the group forward for the next year. Guest speaker at the AGM was Ann Johnson, Finance Director of Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, a family-run business which now operates on a global basis.
In 2017, Blaze was named as one of the top 1000 UK Companies to Inspire by the London Stock Exchange Group.
Newly-elected president, Adele Slater, said that despite the current online format, the group is looking forward to building on the successes of recent years:
“This has always been a diverse and dynamic group which holds a series of varied events throughout the year to suit all interests.
That will continue as we move into the online format through an events programme which will continue to provide business women with opportunities to network and engage with each other.
“Six new committee members have joined the team this year, bringing with them a range of specialist skills which will strengthen the Women Connect offering,”
“We have set a goal of increasing our membership this year.
"Many of our events can be attended by non-members but becoming a member brings a number of benefits.
" These include free attendance at many events and automatic membership of the Association of Scottish Business Women (ASB) which gives access to all their benefits.
" Furloughed or unemployed business women who join will also receive three months free membership.
“Proceeds from our online events go to Women Connect’s designated charity Friends of the Neonatal Unit.”
