Logan appointed as Westminster fisheries group vice-chair
A new north-east MP has been appointed vice-chair of a Westminster cross-party scrutiny group
Aberdeenshire North and Moray East MP Seamus Logan, who was elected to serve the new seat in July’s general election, has been appointed vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Fisheries.
The inaugural meeting for the new Parliament of the APPG was held on Tuesday, October 15 in Westminster.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Logan said: “Fishing is part of the DNA of our coastal communities. It is a multi-million pound industry, and employs many thousands of people.
“In addition, fishing directly supports many more thousands of jobs onshore, in processing, retail, supply, maintenance, boat building and so on.
“The fishing industry is particularly important to my constituency so I am pleased that has been recognised with this appointment.
“I will aim to be a strong voice for all sectors within the industry in this forum and I look forward to the APPG getting down to work.”
