Nominations being sought for Garioch area community council elections

Over the next few weeks community councils across Garioch will be looking for new members to represent them in the coming years.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said: "The recent pandemic has strengthened the need for local resilience and for people to support one another in their communities. Community Councils are an excellent way to become involved."

Nominations are now being sought for three Garioch community councils which are Fintary which has 10 vacancies with nominations closing on Monday, May 30.

Bennachie has 11 vacancies – Chapel of Garioch (1), Culsalmond (2), Insch (5), Premnay (2) and Rayne (1) – with nominations also closing on Monday, May 30.

Inverurie has seven vacancies with nominations closing on Tuesday, May 31.

Other community councils are also seeking new members and their nomination periods are due to close soon.

Cluny, Midmar and Monymusk has five vacancies – Midmar (1), Monymusk (2) and Cluny (2) – with nominations closing on Wednesday, May 11.

Echt and Skene has six vacancies – Dunecht (1), Echt (1), Garlogie (1), Kirkton of Skene (1) and Lyne of Skene (2) – with nominations closing on Thursday, May 12.

Fintray has 10 vacancies and its nominations close on Tuesday, May 17.
