Nicola Sturgeon has ruled out relaxing the restrictions against Covid-19 to allow Scotland to celebrate Hogmanay.

Speaking today Ms Sturgeon said: "Households may be able to form slightly larger bubbles with each other for a short period."

However she added that any leeway envisioned to allow families to meet over the Christmas period is unlikely to be extended to the last day of the year.

Discussions between the four UK nations are still ongoing over the details of what will happen over the festive period.

The guidance could see three households being able to come together for up to five days, although this has still to be finalised.

ingdom continue to work on plans allowing a “relaxation” of the rules in order for families to meet on Christmas Day.
