Nine new coronavirus cases confirmed in Moray in the last week

NINE new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray in the last seven days, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 281.

This represents a decrease on the 17 cases confirmed in last week's update, and on the 29 confirmed two weeks ago.

Since November 24, 365 negative tests have been returned in Moray.

The number of deaths related to the virus in Moray has remained at 22. Of those who have died, 14 have tested positive for covid-19 and died within 28 days and eight have had covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 4864 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 387 on the 4477 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood update

The active cases of coronavirus in Moray are spread across the area.

Forres, Lossiemouth, Buckie and Keith all currently have active cases of the virus. There are no cases currently being reported in Elgin.

Two other neighbourhood areas have active cases. These are Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley and Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 951 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 38 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending December 2, 45,129 people were newly-tested with 5801 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 1,194,269 covid-19 tests have been taken in Scotland, with 96,762 positive and 1,097,507 negative.

In the week ending November 29, 252 deaths were recorded where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That takes the total number of deaths to 5634 across Scotland since the outbreak began.

Of those, 3797 tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 35 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 441 in hospital.

In total, 7658 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
