Aberdeen Your Wedding Exhibition will showcase new trends

An upcoming exhibition will let north-east couples who are getting married start the new year by finding out more about what they want to include at their wedding.

All the trends from content creators to food machines are covered at next weekend’s Your Wedding Exhibition in Aberdeen.

At the two-day show couples can find not only one of the Trump Scottish beauty retreats, but social media content creators and pop-up BBQ street food, chaperones for loved ones who require assistance and live musicians with eye-catching names.

These are among the 170 exhibitors there to provide advice and inspiration, with the region’s leading wedding experts all under one roof at P&J Live during the weekend of January 18 and 19.

The anxiety of capturing the big day for social media is one catered for at Your Wedding Exhibition. Specialist content creators are becoming increasingly popular and as a result, couples do not have to wait weeks to post wedding photos on social media anymore.

Inverurie-based The Social You Seek founder Lois Milne said: “We redefine wedding memories, providing a unique, immersive experience that allows couples to relive their day in an authentic, unforgettable way with a quick turnaround time.

“What I adore about wedding content creation the most is the ability for couples to wake up to thousands of little moments from their day on top of the beautiful shots from their photographer and videographer.”

Meanwhile, Wild & Coral is Catterline couple Morven Coral Mackenzie and Steven Wild. They say their wedding content service allows couples to relax and enjoy the special day with the knowledge that all the special candid and behind the scenes moments are being captured and shared the very next day.

The Heritage Retreat is based in the Trump MacLeod House & Lodge at the golf resort on Menie Estate.

It is one of the four Heritage Salons locations in the area, which also include the Bridge of Don, Inverurie and the city centre.

They bill themselves as the “perfect choice for wedding beauty preparations, with each location providing a serene, luxurious environment for brides, grooms, and their parties”.

The site was first Scottish golf resort from Donald Trump, who takes up office as US President on Monday, January 20.

Brides wishing to capture their beautiful moments will be keen to talk to Body Mind Boudoir, which bills itself as Aberdeen’s boudoir photographer for everyday women.

The city-based Enchanted Elements is surfing the trend for more casual wedding eating experiences, hiring out food machines that will serve up a selection of treats for hungry guests.

Also on the menu is Smoke & Soul, a popular family-run business serving high quality BBQ food from their two city venues. They promise to deliver a mouth-watering experience for wedding-goers, catering indoors or from their pop-up BBQ street food stand for a casual outdoor experience.

A new service being offered – alongside Spotlessly Chic’s pet chaperoning service – is from Plus One Chaperones.

Carole and Anita are colleagues and friends in Pitmedden, who together have over 30 years of experience working in social care.

“During this time, we have seen individuals miss out on important family events due to mobility or care issues and recognised a gap in the market for a friendly and supportive chaperone service. This is what led us to establish Plus One Chaperone,” said the pair.

“We provide companionship and support during special events such as weddings or anniversaries. We ease the pressure of the day, allowing the couple and their guests to enjoy the celebrations.”

Another trend that has gained popularity is the use of live bands or alternative musical acts instead of traditional DJs.

UK wedding blog Rock My Wedding identifies the shift as adding a dynamic and energetic atmosphere to a wedding reception.

With Rage Against the Piano, More Than Sax and the Reel of Fortune all represented at Your Wedding Exhibition, there’s certainly lots to catch the attention.

The musicians featuring include Rage Against the Piano based in Newtonhill.

Luke Gunn Fingerstyle Guitarist creates unique acoustic instrumental arrangements of popular and trending songs from his own studio in Aberdeenshire.

Reel of Fortune is a three piece ceilidh band performing Scottish country dance music, with instrumental covers during their set.

Iron Broo ceilidh Band is fronted by well known Aberdeen musician Charlie Abel.

Gareth from More than Sax is a multi-instrumentalist based in Bridge of Don and whether the wedding couple would like to be sung or saxed down the aisle, have acoustic and sax vibes for the drinks reception or an Ibiza-style party-starter in the evening, he can accommodate it.

SOLA wedding singer is Aberdeen-based Gbemisola Oludare, a talented, soulful and jazzy wedding and event singer.

Dan Greavey is a crooner from Aberdeenshire with a smooth voice to match the great songs and easy feel of the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Michael Bublé.

Nick Innes Music is a guitarist and singer, with years under his belt entertaining all over Scotland.

The Big Show with its talented male and female vocalists includes singing waiters.

Franco bills itself as The Best Wedding Band in Glasgow.

Your Wedding Exhibition also promises the more traditional florists, photographers, cake bakers and confectioners among its 170 exhibitors at the two-day event.

The twice-daily fashions shows attract thousands of brides and grooms through the doors.

Director of Your Wedding Exhibition Simon Morgan said: “The 2025 event is gearing up to be an absolute showstopper.

“We are proud to host a range of established experts and up-and-coming suppliers, and every year we discover new and exciting trends in the ever-evolving wedding industry.

“It’s why the exhibition is such a great opportunity to find the inspiration for the perfect bridal gown or those stand-out statement accessories and discover new and different ways to personalise their perfect day.”

Your Wedding Exhibition is being held at P&J Live on January 18 and 19. Visit yourweddingexhibition.com for more details.
