A new position has been created within the Formartine community policing team to increase and improve engagement with local communities.
PC Doug Donald will be the area's new Community Based Officer (CBO) and will work closely with local communities to ensure they remain a safe place to live and work.
Formartine Inspector Andy Scott said: “I am delighted to announce the introduction of a new dedicated Community Based Officer (CBO) for Formartine.
"PC Doug Donald’s appointment has come about following consultation with local community councils and engagement with residents during recent surgeries.
“The introduction of a CBO will help increase police interaction across the region, in particular our more isolated communities, and will provide a named and recognisable officer giving easy access to local policing."
PC Donald will perform high visibility patrols across the Formartine region, where he will engage with schools and community groups.
He’ll organise drop-in sessions for reporting local matters and support partner agencies in education and welfare.
Inspector Scott added: “Following the initial implementation phase, it is hoped further officers will be added to perform this role, cementing our links with the local community and enforcing local policing initiatives and operations targeting local concerns.
“This is about reintroducing the 'Bobby on the Beat' and I am positive PC Donald will have a huge impact on our communities and in the delivery of local policing.”
PC Donald said: "I’m looking forward to establishing good community relationships with all our partners across the Formartine area.
"I will be working closely with the local community, responding to their concerns and striving to find long-term solutions to local issues.”
