DUNCAN Taylor Scotch Whisky have confirmed that they have bought the Bank Restaurant in the centre of Huntly.
The property is currently being refurbished to their specification.
A decision on applications have to the licensing authority for the café and restaurant are awaited before it can open.
Duncan Taylor boss, Euan Shand has said that around ten people will be employed at The Bank when it opens.
Mr Shand said: "I was born and brought up in Huntly so my love of Huntly and the people is deep rooted. As a company, we have already invested heavily in the Huntly area - we have our headquarters on King Street and our Whiskies of Scotland shop and online retailer The Spirits Embassy are both in Gordon Street.
"We have a property in the area as well and are in the process of building a new warehouse too - focussing on Huntly and investing further is something we have always wanted to do when the time was right.
"We are working on refurbishing The Bank at the moment and once that is completed we intend to open as soon as we can. We have some exciting plans in place but have to wait for some licences."
Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky took over as owners of The Castle Hotel at the end of May and extensive work to the building and grounds is under way.
It will operate as a hotel with a bar and restaurant.
Mr Shand added: We are working on bringing The Castle Hotel building back to what it was in the mid 1800s with a sympathetic modern refurbishment to meet the discerning local and international standards of quality and service.
"I want to bring the very best to the hotel. We are also looking at the carbon footprint for the hotel, making it as environmentally friendly as we can, putting efficient new systems into place."
Up to 25 people could be employed at the hotel, including members of the team who worked with the previous owners.
