Ellon Legion is almost unrecognisable after undergoing a facelift at the weekend.

With the support of Ellon Legion members the venue, situated behind Victoria Hall on Station Road, is now fronted with grey painted cladding and an updated Ellon Legion logo instead of the former red harled walls.

The flowerbeds, which had become overgrown, were also tidied up and replanted.

This is just the first part of a series of planned refurbishments to the building which the new committee - who came into position in January after the mass resignation of the former committee amid fears the club would be forced to close - are hoping will make the venue more attractive to both new and existing members.

Chairman Douglas Watson said: "As we emerge from lockdown we are keen to implement the improvements which we were planning back in the spring."

The new committee have many plans in the pipeline - based off personal experiences, member feedback and comments from the wider community - and have not been deterred by the lockdown restrictions.

Ellon Legion reopened with a number of new measures in place to keep everyone safe while the pandemic continues, including one way systems, new ordering guidelines and the removal of entertainment for the time being.

The group have extended their thanks to Mike Annand, Drew Robertson, Sandy Simpson, Christian Gavin, Mike Smith and PTM Plant for their contributions and support in this initial stage of refurbishments.
