Aberdeenshire sustainable travel projects can apply for new funding
Community groups, charities and social enterprises interested in developing sustainable travel projects are being encouraged to apply for new grant funding.
Regional Transport Partnership for Aberdeenshire, Nestrans, has re-launched its Community Sustainable Travel Grant.
The initiative provides funding for projects that support or encourage active and sustainable travel.
Nestrans has been running an existing sustainable travel grant, aimed at businesses, since 2004.
A Nestrans spokesman said: “This community version of the grant makes the funding more accessible to organisations that would struggle to supply the match funding required under the original scheme. Grants are available up to a maximum of £5000”
Groups across the region can now apply for up to 100 per cent of the funding needed for a range of projects such as:
• Community paths – Enhancements to local paths to improve accessibility and encourage walking and cycling.
• Cycle parking – Installation of bike parking facilities to support cycling to facilities.
• Electric and cargo bikes – Acquiring electric or cargo bikes to use for community hire schemes, or as fleet vehicles.
• Travel plans – Support to develop or implement comprehensive travel plans to support sustainable and active travel.
The scheme is now encouraging applications to be submitted before Friday, November 29.
