The demolition of the Castle Inn on Caroline Street is being discussed by members of Moray Council's local review body today.

Owner Graham Forbes previously submitted a proposal to tear the building down and replace it with a block of eight flats.

The decision on its future will be made by three councillors – Pearl Paul (Speyside Glenlivet), Joseph Mackay (Buckie) and Ron Shepherd (Keith and Cullen).

The building dates back to the 18th century, and is considered to be in a poor condition but not beyond repair.

Papers submitted to council say it has not been marketed to someone willing to restore it, and the proposed block of flats would not bring “a significant benefit” to the Forres community.

The meeting takes place from 9.30am in Council Chambers and WILL NOT be webcast.
