A90 roadworks set to take place near Rathen
The A90 is set to benefit from a £942,000 investment that will deliver improvements to the road surface.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out overnight work on the route to the south of Rathen between Sunday, February 9 and Friday, March 7.
Resurfacing will take place between Lonmay and Rathen, from north of the A952 junction to 430 metres south of the B9032 junction.
An Amey spokesperson said: “To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under overnight road closures of the A90 between 7.30pm and 6.30am.
“There will be no overnight works on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15, Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22, and Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1. Traffic management will be removed by 6.30am on Saturday, March 8.
“A signed diversion will be in place. Northbound traffic will leave the A90 at Howe o’Buchan roundabout in Peterhead, taking the first exit onto the A950 and continuing through Mintlaw to take the A981 north through Strichen.
“Traffic for Fraserburgh will continue on the A981 and local traffic will turn right onto the B9032 at Memsie and follow to Rathen. Southbound traffic will take the route in reverse.
“Local traffic for the Rathen crossroads will be diverted between Cortes junction and Rathen using the local roads.
“The improvements will benefit more than 7100 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
“All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.”
