The communities are the latest to get the new service, which has already been rolled out in Ballater, Oldmeldrum, Fraserburgh, Banchory, Ellon and Stonehaven.

Access to public PCs at both libraries will also be available – hour long slots allow 45 minutes of use and the chance for staff to clean the area between users, who are asked to wear face coverings.

Pick-ups for the click and collect service should be made on foot only.

Collections will be available from Inverurie library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3pm-6pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm and on a Friday from noon – 3pm.

Collection at Peterhead Library is on a Monday from 1pm-3pm, Tuesday from 3pm-6pm, Thursday from 3pm-6pm, Friday from 1pm to 3pm and Saturdays from 10am-1pm.

Existing sites where the service operates have already seen a good uptake of the book service and which also includes the ability to collect hearing aid batteries from the NHS and Curricular Support Resources.

While Aberdeenshire's digital library services have been very well used during lockdown, there's been great demand for increased access to materials only available in libraries.

The new services are being introduced to allow customers and staff to remain socially distant and safe, while still getting what they need to make lockdown more bearable.

A new online system has been developed alongside an easy-to-use phone service to book time slots and resources.

A “Live Chat” function is also available on the website.

Customers can return items to any of the participating sites.
