People in Moray urged to apply early to vote by post as surge expected amid pandemic

PEOPLE in Moray are being urged to apply early to vote by post in the Scottish Parliamentary Election on Thursday, May 6.

The numbers of postal votes are expected to surge due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since December, almost 4,000 applications to vote by post have been received by the Electoral Registration Office from voters in Moray.

Extra measures are planned to ensure polling stations are safe and hygienic on the day, including regular cleaning of surfaces, pencils being handed out to every voter as they enter, and strict social distancing.

People who wish to vote by post for the first time must apply by April 6.

People who wish to vote by post for the first time must apply by 5pm on Tuesday, April 6.

The same deadline applies to those applying for postal proxy votes, or those wanting to make changes to exiting postal or postal proxy voting registrations.
