The police have teamed up with the region's food bank to try ensure nobody misses out this Christmas.

The police stations in Elgin, Buckie and Forres now have drop off points for anyone to donate food items.

These will be collected on a weekly basis and handed to Moray Food Plus for distribution.

PC Lisa Warren from the Forres Community Policing Team said: "Food poverty is on the increase and Moray Food Plus are working hard to support people who through no fault of their own find themselves in crisis.

“I am delighted to be able to create this link between Moray Food Plus and Police Scotland.

"In these times of uncertainty, especially during the Christmas Period, it can bring worry and stress to many people and I hope this new link can bring comfort and reassurance to people and families across Moray."

Gillian Pirie is the volunteer development officer at Moray Food Plus.

She said: "We are thrilled to be offered extra support from Police Scotland at a time when pulling together as a community has never been so important.

"With Christmas approaching and an anticipated rise in foodbank use, links like these are invaluable to us.

"We are excited to see where this partnership leads for the future."
