The collection of bulky domestic waste such as old furniture, carpets and white goods has been reinstated.

.

This paid-for service will operate across Moray from today, with a current capacity for a maximum of 20 collections a day.

The council says extra staff and vehicles will be made available should demand outstrip normal capacity.

For a fixed charge of £24.53 the council will collect a maximum of five large items along with two bags of general waste.

To book a collection residents should call the bulky uplift hotline on 0300 123 4565 during working hours.

A council spokesperson said: "While recycling centres currently remain closed during the pandemic many households have had the time to have a clear-out with no outlet to dispose of larger items.

"The bulky uplift service can be delivered safely within the physical distancing guidelines set out by the Scottish Government."
