The Beaton Hall in Methlick is to come back in use for limited groups it has been confirmed.

Secretary for the committee Ian Mennis said: "We are now able to have limited use of the hall provided every user adheres to the government guidelines and observes social distancing.

"There has been a Covid-19 risk assessment done and changes made.

"Only the main hall and toilets will be in use, the kitchen and all other rooms will be locked.

"A new one way system is also in place in the corridor and signage has been set up to help with social distancing.

"The locks have also been changed therefore there is only one key available which can be obtained from the shop.

"Anyone who needs the key will have to register and give details for track and trace.

"The key can only be given to one person at a time and all hirers will have to have their own Covid-19 risk assessment and operate a track and trace system.

He also confirmed the cancellation of this year's fireworks: "Unfortunately this year's fireworks will not go ahead.

"After taking advice it was proving difficult to observe all the precautions needed to run a safe event.

"Hopefully all will be well for next year."
