A village minister has warned locals against a scam asking them to support him financially.

Methlick Parish Church's Reverend Dr Will Stalder took to social media to assure congregation members as well as the wider Methlick community that he has definitely not been reaching out asking for donations of gift cards to support him financially during the ongoing pandemic.

In a post on the church's Facebook page he wrote: "It has come to my attention that someone is posing as me and writing people in the community asking for financial assistance, helping with buying Amazon Gift cards, etc.

"They are writing from a different e-mail account but under my name, Reverend Dr Will Stalder.

"This is not me!

"I would never as your minister write asking for personal financial assistance.

"This is a scam and a horrible one too, especially in the present climate."
