A MORAY coastal town has its very own real-life mermaid.
Ashleigh More (28) appeared on the Scaley Rock to the astonishment of onlookers the other day. The photos were taken by her dad David.
The Edinburgh-based actress has always loved mermaids since she was a wee girl.
"Both my granddads were fishermen so it makes sense that I grew up to be a mermaid," she said.
"I used to love watching Disney's Little Mermaid."
She had to train to become a mermaid, going to Mercamp run by a company called Hire a Mermaid.
"There I was trained as a free diver and mermaid and thought it would be a great achievement to be the first mermaid on the Scaley Rock in Hopeman! The place where I grew up."
Ashleigh graduated with a degree in acting in 2015 fom Napier University in Edinburgh.
She has worked a lot in children's theatre and toured the country, including Findhorn, with Frozen Charlotte's production called "Nests".
Ashleigh has also done a lot of voiceover work and other children's productions.
She is back in Hopeman for part of the summer, preparing for her sister's wedding at the end of the month.
And she has vowed to make another appearance as a mermaid, so keep your eyes peeled if you are in Hopeman.
