A MAN was taken to hospital this morning after a fire alert at a Moray distillery site.

Three fire appliances were sent to the incident inside a building at Roseisle Maltings.

Owner Diageo said an employee was injured due to an electrical issue and the fire service were alerted.

A Diageo spokesperson said: "I can confirm there was an incident at Roseisle Maltings this morning whereby one of our employees unfortunately suffered injuries due to an electrical issue and they have been taken to hospital for further assessment.

"This activated our alarm safety system and the fire service attended as a matter of course. However, their services were not required.

"An internal investigation has begun and we have notified the relevant authorities of the incident."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesperson said earlier that they were alerted at 9.49am this morning to reports of a building fire at the site.

A spokesperson said operations control mobilised three appliances, alongside specialist resources, to attend.

The SFRS spokesperson added: "One male casualty was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Firefighters left after making the area safe."

The extent of the man's injuries are unknown at this stage.
