Man killed in Whitehills house fire

A 50-year-old man has died in a fire in his Whitehills home.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Redwell Cottages at 6.30pm on Saturday where they extinguished the blaze and found the man within.

His next of kin have been made aware.

Detective Inspector Michael McKenzie said: "A joint investigation will be carried out with the fire service to establish the cause of the fire but at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

"As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
