Aberdeenshire man in court charged over Banff fire

A man has appeared in court in connection with a fire at a Banff house.

Bobby Bennett, from Aberdeenshire, appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on October 8 charged with wilful fire-raising to danger of life.

The charge relates to a housefire which took place in the Whinhill Road area of Banff on Monday, October 7.

The 34-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court again within eight days.

Emergency services attended the scene of the fire, which was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
