A community group's plans to create new allotments in Oldmeldrum have taken a major step forward after full planning permission was granted by Aberdeenshire Council.

The development of the site was first proposed back in 2021 and following a public meeting in April last year, plans were submitted for the site which sites to the south of Meadow View and will be accessed off Milburn Road.

A total of 25 plots will be created along with a small parking space for users and a communal polytunnel which will be bordered by raised planting beds.

Local residents who are interested in the project should visit https://www.facebook.com/OldmeldrumGreenGrowingSpace/ where regular updates and information are available.

While the site has already been cut back for the summer, work is expected to begin in the coming weeks at the site.
