The Celestial Dawn, BF 109 was designed between Macduff Shipyards and firm Macduff Ship Design and built at the yard's fabrication hall in Buckie.

The brand new fishing vessel is the first of three sister ships with a second boat now under construction and a third due to be built later this year. All three vessels will be built at the yard's fabrication hall in Buckie, a significant milestone for both the yard and town.

The design of Celestial Dawn began in 2018 and although intended to fish in a similar way to the owner’s previous vessel, the design of the new vessel was focused to both enhance crew comfort and improve fuel efficiency.

Standing at 22.75 metres, the newly designed ship is able to travel at a speed of 10.5 knots. The vessel is able to comfortably house the crew of 8, has an oil fuel capacity of 21,000 litres and can hold 15,500 litres of fresh water.

Below deck features the cabins, engine room, fish hold and a large freshwater tank forward of the collision bulkhead. Above deck is the aft shelter, the galley and mess and side passage area, fish processing area and then forepeak where the trawl winch is situated.

The new vessel will fish out of Peterhead.

The Celestial Dawn, BF 109 has now made its way to owner George Hepburn and partners.

The fishing vessel replaces the owners previous boat of the same name, which was also built by the yard in 2000.

The Celestial Dawn will fish out of Peterhead in the North East of Scotland, primarily targeting prawns in the North Sea.
