The home provides care to four adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Two inspectors visited the premises unannounced on October 25 of this year, during which they talked to residents, staff and observed daily life at the home, in addition to examining survey feedback from families, staff and outside professionals.

The glowing report praised Colleonard Court as providing “warm and nurturing” support from staff, creating a homely atmosphere for the residents, who had plenty of activities on hand to enjoy. Inspectors also noted that the staff worked well together and that the home was “very clean and tidy”.

The family of one resident told the inspectors “[my relative] is very well looked after” and that they were “very happy with the care” provided at Colleonard Court.

The report went on to say: “People led active and fulfilling lives, enjoying a variety of activities at home and in the community, for example, going to the cinema, swimming, attending the enable club or simply being able to go for a walk or watch films.

“This meant people were busy and felt part of the community.”

Staff and management also came in for praise by inspectors, where they said there were “significant strengths”.

A resident’s family hailed those who worked at the home as being a “lovely caring and happy bunch of staff who have great respect for all residents”, and while another stated the staff were “always very friendly and helpful”.

The staff themselves described management as being “supportive [and] approachable”, with everyone working well together as a team.

Colleonard Court was described by the inspectors as being “bright and welcoming”, with residents’ room reflecting their individual personalities and interests.

It was highlighted that the the home was “proactively seeking to enhance the environment to suit people's individual needs”.

The report continued: “There was a large garden with a summerhouse and a potting shed.

“There were plans to develop the garden more, with people's interests and ideas being reflected in the vision. For example, a small caravan which people could use to listen to music or have some quiet time away from the communal areas.”
