Banff police station receives defibrillator from Friends of Chalmers Hospital
A healthcare charity has donated a life-saving defibrillator to a police station.
Friends of Chalmers Hospital presented the device to officers at Banff police station.
It will enhance the emergency response capabilities of the police station, helping to ensure that first responders are equipped to provide immediate care in critical situations.
The defibrillator, which is essential for treating sudden cardiac arrest, will be stationed at Banff police station and available for use by officers in case of emergencies.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, and the swift use of a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival.
PC Rastislav Zubaj of Banff police station said: “We are incredibly grateful to Friends of Chalmers Hospital for their donation.
“This life-saving equipment will be an invaluable asset for our officers, enabling us to respond more effectively to medical emergencies in the community.
“We hope we never have to use it, but knowing it’s there gives us peace of mind.
"The defibrillator will be regularly maintained by Banff and Macduff Heartstart and Community First Responders and accessible to police officers during their shifts, ensuring its readiness in case of an emergency.
“The donation also highlights the importance of community partnerships and the impact of collaborative efforts in improving public health and safety.”
