The current lockdown in Aberdeen is to continue for at least seven days the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed.
Speaking at First Minister's questions in Holyrood this afternoon she confirmed that the overall number of cases of Covid-19 in Scotland have increased by 47 to a total of 19,216.
Provisional information shows that 24 of the 47 are within the NHS Grampian are but it is not clear if they are connected to the Aberdeen cluster.
She said: "Based on the latest figures there have been 272 cases in the NHS Grampian area from the start of the July outbreak, 177 of whcih are associated with cluster.
"940 contacts have now been identified from cases.
"In general there has been a slight fall in cases, but despite this it is still far higher than the rest of Scotland and a considerable number.
"It is therefor not possible to lift restrictions this week.
"All restriction still apply both to those in Aberdeen and to those in the Shire who travel into Aberdeen."
She added: "I want to thank everyone for complying and we are also watching for spread of the virus into the Shire but do not feel it necessary at present to take action.
"As soon as we can we will relax restrictions but numbers are still to high for this to be safe or sensible."
