Latest Covid fatality figures for Moray

No deaths were recorded within Moray during the seven-day period leading up to Sunday, November 15.

This was the third week running that none were recorded locally, and the overall number for Moray remains at 22.

Four deaths occurred during the seven-day period in the wider NHS Grampian area, which also includes Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Between November 9 and November 15 there were 278 deaths across Scotland.

This was an increase of 71 from the previous week.

As of Sunday, there have now been a total of 5135 deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Pete Whitehouse is the the Director of Statistical Services at the National Records of Scotland which released these figures.

He said: "Each statistic represents heartbreak for families across the country who mourn the loss of loved ones as a result of this virus.

"Deaths are not spread equally across the country, with the majority of deaths occurring in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Lanarkshire Health Board areas."

Of the 278 recent deaths involving Covid-19:

  • 69% (94 deaths) were aged 75+
  • 12% (33 deaths) were aged under 65
  • 43% were female (119 deaths) and 57% male (159 deaths)
  • The majority (71%) occurred in hospitals (198 deaths)
  • 72 deaths were in care homes
  • 8 were at home or in a non-institutional setting
  • There were 105 deaths in Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board area
  • 63 in Lanarkshire
  • 31 in Lothian.
