THERE are just a few days remaining for local community groups and organisations to stake their claim to a share of a £20,000 funding pot.

Wednesday, April 10 at 5pm will see the deadline for applications for the Bucks4Buckie participatory budgeting scheme close, with organisations contemplating applying but have not yet done so urged to be quick or risk losing out.

Behind the scheme, which enjoyed a hugely successful inaugural year in 2018, is Buckie Area Forum's Economic Regeneration Group, who are offering grants ranging from £500 right up to £3500.

The cash is available for projects which seek to make Buckie a better place and aid the local economy.

The destination and amount of the grants will be decided by an open vote at a public event to be held on May 11

Regeneration group chairman Gordon McDonald said: "We're obviously keen to get as many applications in as possible, but the clock is ticking and we'd hate for anyone to miss the deadline and lose out.

"We believe that by making it a participatory budgeting event it's a great way of involving the public in the decision-making process."

Application forms are available from Buckie Library, Buckie Community High School and the Buckie Access Point in Cluny Square.
