Kemnay Walks and Fairy Trails to launch on Saturday

A double launch event is set to take place from Kemnay Village Green on Saturday as the Fairy Trail and Kemnay Walks are unveiled to the public.

Running from 10am - noon the launch of the walks and fairy trail is designed to get folk out and about again and for the children to have a bit of fun over the summer.

New maps of the village have been produced by Aberdeenshire Council showing various walking routes and places of interest.

The fairy trail is also officially launched with over 125 participants now confirmed in and around the town.

Orgainsed by Louise Graham, groups including Kemnay Primary, the Rainbows and the local Knit and Natter Group as well as many individuals and families have been hard at work creating the trail.

Further details of the trail can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/460774915027328 and printed copies of the full list will be available from Saturday in several locations including Essentials and the Geek Bothy.

Walks will start at 10.15 and 11.45 on the Bogbeth, Riverside and Fetternear trails.

Limited places for these which are capped at 15 participants are available to book at positivestepskemnay.uk/kemnay-walks-fairy-trail/ or via hildahart5@gmail.com.

A total of nine local walking routes have been created -

They include the Bishop’s Palace Orange Route which starts at the Village Hall on a circular route to the Fetternear Estate to reach the historic Bishops Palace.

The Riverside, Purple Route also starts at the Village Hall and follows the layout of Bremner Way in a circular path.

Place of Origin, Green Route offers an optional climb to the Place of Origin to see into the quarry and enjoy a scenic panorama of the village and surrounding countryside.

Other destinations include Milton Meadows, Pale Blue Route and the Leschangie Hill, Dark Green Route and Dalmadilly Ponds, Dark Red Route.
