Morag was nominated in the Photographer of the Year North category and came out on top. And, much to her surprise, she then went on to scoop the main, country-wide prize as well.

She said: "It's mad! I had no idea I would win – it's just an honour.

"Just to be nominated was amazing. I wasn't even thinking of the Scotland-wide award as just winning the north one was amazing. They said my name and I thought 'what?!'.

"It was such a shock as the competition was so high and all the competition was amazing. Anyone could have won. I don't think it has sunk in yet but there will be a few celebrations to come."

The awards ceremony took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, with Morag travelling down with her partner.

For winning the Photographer of the Year North, Morag was presented with a certificate. She was then given a trophy for winning the national Photographer of the Year award.

Eight years of business have led Morag, who was nominated last year but didn't pick up a prize, to this point.

She added: "This is definitely the high point of the eight years in business. It's out of this world.

"The event was good as always. There was more than 250 people there and everyone was so lovely.

"My friends and family are buzzing. I just want to thank the public who voted for me, as well as previous brides and grooms. I am just blown away by the support from everyone."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Wedding Awards, which is in its eighth year, praised the overall standard of entrant: "The winners represent the industry's gold standard that work tirelessly to meet the demands of the couples and their guests.

"The awards showcased some of the best wedding specialists that operate in the industry.

"These champions are tried and tested specialists that know how to create a stress-free wedding experience, keeping the romance in the air. We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their amazing achievements."

As well as photographers, wedding planners, co-ordinators, specialists, caterers florists and stationary suppliers are recognised at the awards night.

Elsewhere in Moray, Innes House in Elgin won the award for best wedding venue in the north.
