A MAN from Keith has raised £1,000 for Glenisla Care Home after taking on a 'gruelling' challenge in memory of his grandad.
Ryan Cruickshank completed the David Goggins challenge, named after a former US Navy SEAL and ultramarathon runner, to raise funds for the care home where his late grandad had been a resident.
That saw the local fitness enthusiast run four miles every four hours for two days straight.
The money will go into the care home's comfort fund which helps Glenisla run activity days for residents.
Ryan said: "My grandad Bill passed away earlier this year and in his memory I decided to raise money for the Glenisla comfort fund.
"In the last six months of his life, he spent it at Glenisla. Despite being apprehensive about it, he soon settled down and every time I visited him he loved telling me about the trips the staff took him on and the fun activities they would do each week.
"The money raised in his memory will go to Glenisla to fund these activities and trips, making sure that those smiles continue for evermore."
Emily Clair, activities coordinator at Glenisla Care Home, said: "We're indebted to Ryan for his wonderful generosity.
"We know that Bill would have been so proud of his achievement. Ryan's donation will ensure that residents enjoy some lovely days out in the community. Whenever we do so, we’ll remember Bill fondly and raise a cheer to him."
Ryan, who works as a fitness instructor, is set to launch new strength training classes for residents at Glenisla following his fundraising endeavours.
