MORAY Council is encouraging communities in and around Keith to attend the town’s Covid-19 community testing site.

The Scout Hall on Fife Street is being used for community testing, is free to attend and is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 3pm.

It comes as Keith continues to record the highest number of coronavirus cases in Moray, with an outbreak of cases at Glenisla Care Home in the town also confirmed.

This map highlights the spread of Covid-19 throughout Moray. Keith and Fife Keith has 26 cases, while the rest of Moray's areas have far fewer.

The Keith and Fife Keith 'neighbourhood area' confirmed a total of 26 cases of coronavirus within the last week, accounting for around a third of Moray's total cases.

Moray, in turn, has recorded the highest level of infections per 100k of population in Grampian for the third week in a row.

For much of last year, Moray had the lowest infection rate of any mainland Scottish local authority. Now, the area sits in 18th place out of the 32 Scottish councils.

It is hoped that use of the community testing site – which is open to all without symptoms – will help numbers decrease.

Around one in three people who have coronavirus won’t display symptoms so may be spreading the virus without realising.

Anyone who tests positive from a lateral flow test in community testing will need to self-isolate immediately and Moray Council will arrange a follow-up PCR test within 24 hours. Details of practical and financial support will also be provided.

Do not attend the community testing unit if you have Covid-19 symptoms – self-isolate immediately and book an NHS test.
