During an unseasonal visit from Lapland, Santa was overwhelmed with the support he received from the people of Ellon.

On Thursday and Friday evenings as well as during the day on Saturday, Santa popped to Ellon on his sleigh and rode around the streets waving to little ones and collecting donations for the food bank.

In the days before his visit, Santa recruited members of Ellon Round Table to help him maintain social distancing restrictions and also to help him spread the word about his visit.

Both Santa and his Round Table elves were overwhelmed with the response from the community.

Taking to social media after the final collection, Ellon Round Table wrote: "Thank you everyone, once again you have completely blown us away with how unbelievably awesome, generous and kind you all are!

"Thank you to everyone who came out to give Santa a socially distant wave and most importantly left a donation for his helpers to collect.

"We’ve done a rough count and we’ve over 1000 bags of shopping, we’ll get a note of the weight of the donations once the amazing folks at our various food banks have sorted, weighed and organised it all.

"You have all gone a long way to make sure no one in our community goes without during these strange and challenging times."
