Islavale Kenny tops Thainstone multi-breed pedigree bull sale at 7000gns

Pedigree bulls met a sound trade at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ multi-breed sale on Wednesday, when a top price of 7000gns was paid for a Simmental from the Islavale herd.

A total of 16 bulls sold to new homes to average £4902.19 and attracted an active ringside of buyers adhering to social distancing, while many other bidders took advantage of the Thainstone Online platform.

Sale leader at 7000gns was Islavale Kenny, a 22-month-old bull from the Stronach family at Berryleys, Keith.

Selling to Orkney with RJ and L Gaud, Netherskaill, Birsay, he is by Ranfurly Confederate, and out of the Curaheen Bandit-sired cow Islavale Glee.

The same home received 5800gns for another by the same sire, this time Islavale Kooper, out of the Atlow Dixon-sired cow Islavale Hannah.

This 15-month-old bull sold to Jimmy Dick, Northton, Cullerlie, Echt.

Three Charolais bulls sold at 6000gns, with the first being Elrick Phantom from Mike Massie, Mains of Elrick, Ellon.

He is sired by Maerdy Gouverneur, and sold to GB Grieve, South Nittanshead, New Pitsligo, Fraserburgh.

The McCombie family from Auchincrieve, Rothiemay, Huntly, received the same money for 21-month-old Auchincrieve Piranha, by Maerdy Express.

This bull sold to J Baxter, Troup Home Farm, Gamrie, Banff.

Last at this money was Jock Wilson’s 20-month-old Kinclune Powerhouse, by Goldies Ivan, which sold to Ballindalloch with CG Mcgillivray, Auchnascraw, Chapeltown.

Also buying was I Lumsden, Blackriggs, Strichen, Fraserburgh who paid 5000gns for a Charolais from Billy Milne, Ernan, Waterside, Strathdon.

This was Glenernan Pluto, a 24-month-old son of Elgin Jagger.

Limousins topped at 4500gns twice, with the first from Walter Cruikshank, Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge, Grantown-on-Spey.

Selling to DJ Mcinnes, Half of 9 Saasaig, Teangue, Sleat, Isle of Skye, was 22-month-old Clury Prospector, by the French sire Larry.

The other at this money was 18-month-old Limousin Walkers Ptolemy, by Allanfauld Gazza, from Gordon Walker, Easterside, Stonehaven, which sold to GM Angus and Son, Mains of Cookney, Netherley, Stonehaven.

Michael Robertson, Easter Fodderletter, Tomintoul, topped the Aberdeen-Angus section at 4000gns for Wolflaw Joe Eric, when purchased by C Coutts, Mans of Corsegight, New Deer, Turriff.
