The Dreamy Goat Coffee Co which is located at Strathlene Cottage on North Street in Inverurie has opened its doors following the lifting of certain lockdown conditions.

All the preparation and promotion for opening up full time has taken place during lockdown.

Courtney who runs the café with the help of her children, said: “My kids and I have always enjoyed speciality coffee and I have been a vegetarian for a number of years.

“We thought that a combined speciality coffee shop and vegetarian café would be a nice addition to the fantastic range of cafés that we already have in Inverurie.

“ When we saw that the building was up for sale, we decided to go for it.

“Also, my parents own a coffee shop in Texas and my brother owned one in Costa Rica for a while, so I guess it runs in the family.”

Courtney had always thought it would be fun to run a coffee shop herself but the opportunity had never presented itself before.

She had plans to get the business started and had just bought the building before lockdown hit which led to preparation for a possible opening having to be done during this difficult time."

She said: “ We had always planned to do a bit of work in the cafe to make the layout more suitable for our concept, but lockdown slowed everything down and it just took a bit longer to complete the work.

“And, of course, we had to change our plans to accommodate the government guidelines on takeaway food and social distancing.

“We now have outdoor tables set up outside the shop and we have placed those two metres apart to allow for social distancing while sitting outside.

“We have been amazed at how many people have come out to give us a try."

"Even with all the restrictions on social distancing and limiting the number of people in the shop at one time, people have been kind and patient and we really couldn’t have asked for a better start.”

Courtney has also posted regular updates on social media during lockdown to keep everyone informed and updated on setting up Dreamy Goat Coffee Co.

She concluded: “We feel very lucky that we have had so many kind people coming through the shop and then taking the time to post about their experiences on social media.

“ It has been great.”

"We look forward to being able to have customers sit in the shop as restrictions continue to ease."
