Insch scarecrow festival is a successful fundraiser for schools and church

Insch's Fun Festival of Scarecrows raised a total of £4800 which will be divided between local schools and the church.

The entry fees and treasure hunt fees raised £1500 which was divided between the three schools in the parish – Insch, Premnay and Oyne.

A further £1250 was raised by volunteers and raffles took in £2050, which will go to the church.

The winners of the 2021 fun festival of scarecrows in the family section were Aul Macdonald Hid a Fairm (Willowbank) and Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary (Denwell Drive) who were first equal. Second was Old Macdonald (Greenhall Way).

In the businesses and charities section first equal were Beauty and the Beast (Harpers) and Jack and the Beanstalk (Bennachie Leisure Centre). Second was Priscilla the Goose (DIY shop).

The winners of the scarecrow treasure hunt were Meg, Simon, Chantell and Abigail Watt – Leslie; second was Hollie Graham – Insch and third was Harry and Chloe Stuart – Inverurie.

Organiser Reverend Dr Kay Gauld said: "It was a very successful event. Grateful thanks to all who participated in any way. Your support is most appreciated.

"All the scarecrows were amazing. Next year our theme will be cartoons. You have plenty time to think about your next or first scarecrow."
