She said “I am delighted to come to Insch Golf Club to receive such a welcome donation to stroke rehabilitation at Woodend.

"It has been great to see the efforts of local and visiting golfers from all around the north-east of Scotland.

"Their tremendous generosity will make a real difference to stroke patients across the north-east.

"The money they raised will be used to buy equipment to help patients carry out important rehabilitation activities and vital limb movements that will help them in their recovery from a stroke.”

Robert Ingram from the club, himself a recovering stroke patient, said: “I’m really pleased that the proceeds from this event are going to aid stroke patients and I can honestly say that when I was in Woodend, the treatment I received from Therese and her team was first class.”

Vice-captain Eileen Gerrard paid tribute to the players, club staff and volunteers who ensured that the day was such a resounding success.

Just three weeks later, thanks to the efforts of the golfers who took part in the annual Christie-Clark Challenge at Insch Golf Club, the stroke rehabilitation unit at Woodend benefitted by a further donation of £2500.

Organisers George Clark and David Christie said: “We’re delighted to support Therese and her colleagues in the stroke rehabilitation team who provide such a vital health care service to patients across the north-east.”
