Scotland's biggest two day agricultural show saw two days of competition and entertainment across livestock and equestrian categories welcome a royal visitor on Monday.

A warm round of applaudes welcomed Princess Anne as she entered the main arena at The Haughs having first paid a call to the Highland cattle national competition which was taking place and which there were several entries from the Balmoral fold.

Following a light lunch, her formal duties saw her present the Sleigh trophy to the Champion of Champion winner Mark Wattie from Alford with his Aberdeen Angus, Tonley Lady Heather and her calf.

Show by Mark and Beth Dandie in the ring, the presentation marked a second from Princess Anne, who met the winning combination earlier this year at the Aberdeen Angus national event where they also claimed the champion title.

This was then followed by a more informal tour of exhibitors at the event and included stop offs at Annie Kenyon Architects, Bridgend Aggregates and ANM Group before spending considerable time at the food pavilion to talk with producers from across the north-east and with local honey producers in the horticultural section of the industrail tent.
