The current owners of an iconic north-east roadside eatery are on the hunt for a new operator to take over the site.

The Pitstop, aka Roy's Bus has been a landmark for travellers on the A96 for decades and has a well deserved reputation for its breakfast offerings.

Now after 24 years of ownership The Pitstop is up for sale due to owner Roy Minty retiring in April.

In a statement posted on the buses Facebook page it was announced: "The Pitstop is up for sale due to Roy starting his very well deserved retirement in April.

"Lesley is starting her new job on Tuesday and Lewis has started his new job at a butchers.

"With that being said, Roy's Bus will be open for its last day on Sunday, January 23 until it can open again with new owners."

It continued: "If you are genuinely interested in buying The Pitstop, please phone Roy Minty on 07729 237583, evenings are preferred, after 6pm.

"As a family, we would love to thank you all for your continued support throughout the past 24 years, Roy’s Bus couldn’t of lasted as long as it did without you all, we have made lifelong memories and friends throughout those years and we cannot thank you enough for that."
